This year we celebrate our 10th Rencontres by returning to its foundations: the encounter.

At the core of our event, encounters forge relationships, reduce distances, bring works and those who create them closer. Each edition is intimately entwined with the artistic adventures and territories that make up a great 800-kilometer exhibition trail around the Gaspé Peninsula.

We’ve made the journey 10 times, brought together more than 250 artists from here and elsewhere, and presented hundreds of works at the heart of this landscape, where no one would expect to see them. Encounters have taken place between works and visitors, between stories and settings, between the public and artists, between communities from here and there, between you and us. In journeying 8,000 kilometers, we all of us have grown closer to one another. We’ve created and reflected together. We’ve looked into what allows us to share a dialogue, to build thoughts and communal things, despite geographic or cultural separation.
